Fixed-pane windows do not open, which means they do not permit ventilation or easy cleaning, but their sealed edges protect against air infiltration. Fixed-pane windows come in almost any size or shape and with single, double or triple glazing. In areas where heating or cooling is used much of the year, double or triple glazing should be considered for fixed-pane windows, especially if they are large.
